Introducing Fish Into Your Pond

There are several factors which need to be taken in account before fish are transferred to your pond.

Have you removed the chlorine? If you allow the water to stand for 24 hours, the chlorine will evaporate on its own. However, we recommend that you treat the pond with Dechlorinator Plus. This product will not only eliminate the chlorine within minutes, but it will also help to make the metals like zinc, lead and copper less toxic to the fish.

Have you checked the pH? The pH should be in the 7.2 to 7.6 range and can be adjusted, determined by a test kit.

Also take into consideration temperature. Fish move more easily and with less trauma from cooler water to warmer water than from warmer to cooler.

1. Float the bag in the pond for approximately 10-15 minutes to allow temperatures to equalize.

2. Open the bag and scoop some pond water into the bag with the fish.

3. Grasp corners of the bottom of the bag at each edge, gently lift the bottom of the bag allowing the fish and water to flow easily into the pond.
